A message from Brendan Toolan, President of the PPU

Dear Past Pupil,

Welcome to the rebranded website of the Presentation College Bray Past Pupils Union. The relaunch coincided with the centenary in 2021/22 of the founding of the school on Putland Road.

It was a great honour for me to be elected President of the Past Pupils Union as we celebrated 100 years of Presentation College Bray. This is my second stint as President having served during the Diamond Jubilee in 1996!

The fact that you are visiting this website indicates you have a keen interest in the Past Pupils Union and by extension the school. We hope you find it of interest as we record events both on and off the campus. We are in unprecedented times as we cope with the cost of living crises, increased interest rates and conflict in the Middle East as well as the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine following the global pandemic and its impact on our society’s health and wealth!

The Past Pupils Union is facing a challenge. The number of ‘Paid-up’ members is relatively small considering the number of pupils who have passed through ‘Pres’ over the years. I would encourage you to join the PPU. We do run a few sociable outings including the Annual Mass, Golf competition for The Scannell Cup and Presidents Dinner. However, our main aim is to make some positive impact on the fabric of Presentation College Bray. Most recently, we donated to the refurbishment of the Sports Pavilion. You can lend your support through The Centenary Fund which is still accepting voluntary contributions of all sizes.

I would like to congratulate Gary Brennan who was elected Senior Vice President at the AGM in December. He will take over as President in 2025 after my 5 years in office. I would also like to thank, on your behalf, the very hard-working sub-committee whose profiles can be seen here.

Finally, I am sure you will join me in wishing the Principal, Martin Locke, the staff, the community, the pupils, the parents, and all associated with our Alma Mater, every success in 2024.

Kind regards

Brendan Toolan
