The Annual Golf outing attracted 28 past pupils and their guests to Greystones Golf Club on Friday 19th April 2024. This is the second year running the event has been held in Greystones.
We were delighted to welcome the Deputy Principal, Ronan Coffey, who represented the school and plays off a handicap of 3! He just missed out on the Visitors prize being beaten by Denise Toolan who scored 30 points.
Following a very wet winter, the course was subject to placing with the greens in excellent condition. The golf was very competitive and was followed by the President’s Dinner attended by 60 past pupils and guests.
The nines were won by Killian Cassoni 16 points (front) and David Meehan 19 points (back). In 3rd place was Greystones member and President of the Past Pupils Union in 2008 and 2009, Barry King with 36 points off 22. Barry was also 3rd in last year’s outing.
The runner up this year is fellow Greystones member Declan Murphy, also with 36 points off 22. He wins on a count back.
The winner of the Scannell Cup for 2024 is Paddy Downer of Greystones Golf Club who scored a fantastic 39 points off a handicap of 13. Paddy was on the Junior Cup Winning Team of 1975.
Previous winners of The Scannell Cup competed for the Past Winners Prize and Paul Murphy, prevailed with 35 points.
There was an excellent array of prizes sourced from Greystones professional and past pupil, David Lewis.
We hope you can join us in Spring 2025 when the outing is scheduled to return to Greystones.
